I'd like to say my absence is due to writing a book, or updating my Etsy shop, or mapping out world peace, or some other grand scheme. But instead, it was due to life. My life that is busy and full of distractions. A life that includes college papers and projects, commuting and lunches, dreaming and doing, volunteering and planning...
This week's student sewing class included baby bibs bound for a shelter for young mothers. It felt good to produce these handmade items in preparation of the tiny little lives that will enter the world soon. I listened to our 10-year old girls discuss babies and their own thoughts of future motherhood as their hands pulled embroidery floss through linen-----the flow of sewing settling their fingers long enough for their minds to wander.
And as for me, it will all settle, I tell myself. My life will settle into a constant rhythm again...
