This recent article outlined one method of reducing your yearly grocery bill: reduce your meat consumption. Though I've known this for quite sometime, it's a good reminder. A few of my family members could not go without meat altogether and a hearty meal is a welcome reprieve at the end of the day. Thankfully, even my devout meat-eating family members like a good veggie burger every now and then.
I received the cookbook, Veggie Burgers Every Which Way, last week and I've been browsing through the recipes ever since. I finally settled on one to make: Watercourse Foods Tempeh Burger. Have you eaten at Watercourse Foods in Denver? The menu is enticing!
One of the important steps to increase the likelihood my family will like veggie burgers is to serve them with a sauce. We've been on a Goddess Dressing kick lately, but this Yumm-y Sauce or Sunflower Seed Dressingboth would be wonderful. My favorite way to eat a veggie burger is broken up atop a big salad with a hearty dressing! Mmmmm.
I wholly recommend Veggie Burgers Every Which Way. Not only does it include a wide variety of burgers, but it also has recipes for condiments, salads, fries, and burger buns!
Lastly, do you have a good recipe for Goddess Dressing, like Annie's? I haven't been able to replicate it yet...
